On October 31st it was at Rome, and with its brigade reached Johasonville,
Tenn., early in November, where it was stationed, doing garrison duty and
throwing up works, until the 24th, when it left by rail for Columbia, arriving
there on the 25th, and there joined the army then opposing Hood. At the
time of its arrival at that point a heavy skirmish was in progress, and four companies were immediately sent forward on the skirmish line, while the regiment went into position,
