Civil War Infantry
Twenty Third Infantry
"Next morning at daylight the troops took up the line of march to Lenoir's, the second brigade covering the retreat, and skirmishing with the enemy during the day. Lenoir's was reached about 4 P. M., when it was discovered that the main rebel force had taken position to give battle. Necessary preparations were immediately made to meet their attack, but no demonstration was made by the enemy that evening.
