TWENTY-THIRD REGIMENT INFANTRY.

The 23d, which had its rendezvous at East Saginaw was filled by volunteers from the 6th Congressional district, comprising the counties of Clinton, Shia-wassee, Genesee, Gratiot, Saginaw, Tuscola, Huron, Isabella, Midland, Bay, Iosco, Alpena, Chippewa, Marquette, Houghton, Ontonagon, and a few others-not organized.
Colonel David H. Jerome of Saginaw, was selected by Governor Blair as commandant of camp, who had charge of its recruitment and organization, which he most successfully accomplished.
