Twenty-Sixth Regiment Infantry

The presentation speech was made in good taste by the Hon. Fidus Livermore, who had. been commissioned by the governor as commandant of camp to raise the regiment, and which was responded to in a patriotic manner by Colonel J. S. Farrar, commanding. The flag was borne by the regiment through many sanguinary fields, and what is left of it is now 'in the archives of the State.
On the 13th of December following, the regiment, in command of Colonel Farras, left its camp for Washington, having on its muster rolls 903 officers and men.
