Twenty-Sixth Regiment Infantry
daily engaged from October 31st, 1864, until March 25th following, when immediately after the enemy's attack on Forts Steed man and Hancock, in front of the 9th corps, on that day the regiment, with its brigade, was ordered to make a charge on the enemy's works in front of its position, and succeeded in capturing a portion of them, taking several prisoners, and continued fighting during the day with slight loss.
