Michigan Regiments
Twenty-Sixth Regiment Infantry
On the 4th of May following, in command of Major L. Saviers, it crossed the Rapidan at Ely's Ford, and, deploying, covered the flank of its division in its march to Chancellorsville, where it bivouacked. During the afternoon of
the 5th the enemy was encountered on the road toward Orange Court House. The regiment, however, with the exception of a detachment who were on duty as skirmishers, did not become engaged in the fight which ensued, being held in reserve. The only casualty of the day was one wounded.
