Twenty Seventh Regiment Infantry

During the month of November the 27th in command of Lieutenant Colonel Waite, who had been promoted to rank from the 17th of October previous, was engaged on picket duty, and holding a portion of our line of entrenchments 60 near the South Side railroad, about seven miles west of Petersburg, and on the 29th moved to the right and took a position, in the works in front of Petersburg, relieving troops of the 2d corps.
