Twenty Second Regiment Infantry

The 22d formed a part of the reserve brigade, commanded by Colonel Le Favour, Army of the Cumberland, which was doing duty as provost guard of the department. It remained at Chattanooga during the winter on that duty, and furnished guards for steamers leaving that port, and was also engaged in building barracks. On April 1st, 1865, the regiment was transferred from the reserve brigade to the command of Major General Steedman, commanding the District of Etowah,
