Twenty Second Regiment Infantry

Many are undoubtedly prisoners, but a number even of those must be wounded. All behaved with the greatest gallantry. Drs. McConnel and Lawrence were on the field to the last, dressing the wounds and giving the necessary directions for the proper care of the disabled. They have the thanks of their comrades.
I send you lists of the killed, wounded, and missing. It would undoubtedly gratify the friends of all to see them published, as the suspense and uncertainty attending the affair must be very great.
