Twenty Second Regiment Infantry

Threw up rifle-pits on hill commanding Lookout Valley; returned to camp on Moccasin Point October 30th. At that time the regiment was attached to the 3d brigade, 2d division, 14th army corps, but was acting with the 2d brigade, 2d division, 4th army corps, Brigadier General Whittaker commanding, to whom the regiment is indebted for many acts of kindness and consideration The regiment is now attached to the Engineer brigade, commanded by Brigadier General William F. Smith, chief engineer of the military division of the Mississippi
