Twenth-ninth Regiment Infantry
K. Captain, Waldo W. Pain, Marquette. First Lieutenant,
Second Lieutenant, Robert H. McQuaid, Belleville.
The 29th broke camp on the 6th of October, 1864, for Nashville, Tenn., in command. of Colonel Saylor, who had been commissioned from the 3d cavalry, with a strength on its rolls of 856 officers and men, Teaching Decatur, Ala., on the 26th. The rebel army under Hood attacked that place on the
same day, and the 29th aided in its defense until the 30th, when the enemy retired.
