Civil War
Twenty Fourth Regiment Infantry
At daylight on the 11th it marched towards Fredericksburg and remained lying on its arms until daylight of the 12th, when it crossed the Rappahannock on the lower pontoon bridges. Soon after reaching the Fredericksburg side the enemy opened with artillery from the heights.
The regiment was still in the 4th brigade, Franklin's 1st division, 1st corps, and on the left of the line of battle. It was under heavy artillery fire on the 12th and 13th.
