Twenty Fourth Regiment Infantry
Its loss in the various actions and skirmishes, and from the fire of the enemy's artillery and sharpshooters to which it was exposed, was 8 killed, 36 wounded, and 5 missing. August 18th it participated in an engagement on the Weldon railroad, having one man wounded. On the 19th the enemy massed a heavy force on their front and attacked their position. The regiment succeeded in holding its ground for a short time, and thus saved a
large portion of its brigade from capture.
