Twenty Fourth Regiment Infantry
On the first day the loss of the 24th was extremely large, being 316 in killed, wounded, and missing. Among the killed were Captains William J Speed, Malachi O'Donnell, and Lieutenants Walter S. Wallace W. S Safford. Newell Grace, R. Humphreyville, Gilbert A. Dickey, and Lucius D. Shattuck. During the engagements of the 2d and 3d it was not under fire of musketry.
