American Civil War

TWENTIETH REGIMENT INFANTRY

Until November 13th we, the 9th corps, were engaged in building winter quarters. But on the night of Novem-. ber 13th Mr. Longstreet very ungenerously and rudely disturbed our dreams of bliss by crossing the Tennessee six miles below Loudon.
: "The river at this point makes an immense 'horse shoe' with Loudon at one point of the heel and Hough's Ferry at the other. The distance around is six miles, the distance across but a mile and a half.
