Convinced that the most advantageous position to tight the enemy was at the ' narrows, ' I rallied all our scattered forces, and leading them back to the 'narows, ' posted them in time to meet and repulse a sharp attack of the enemy, who were the advance guard of General John Morgan.
" On the morning of the 10th the attack was renewed. During the early part of the night the remainder of the regiment had come up, increasing our force to a little upward of 300.
