THIRTEENTH REGIMENT INFANTRY
Colonel Shoemaker, in his report of the part taken by his regiment in that great struggle, says:
"My report of the 5th having been made in great haste, was necessarily very brief, and for the better understanding of the movements of this regiment during the several days of battle, commencing on the 29th and ending on the 3d instant, submit the following: In the evening of the 29th, when ordered to cross the river, we were on the left, the 51st Indiana in the center, and the 73d Indiana on the right.
