THIRTEENTH REGIMENT INFANTRY
Colonel Culver, then major of the regiment, says:
"At the battle of Stone River the 13th supported the 6th Ohio Independent Battery; and early on the morning of the memorable 31st of December, 1862, our brigade was detailed by verbal orders of General Rosecrans and directed to go to the support of General R. W. " Johnson, of McCook's corps, who was on the extreme right of the line, and was being forced back by overwhelming numbers of the enemy.
