Following is Colonel Richardson's report covering operations of his brigade:
Camp of the 4th Brigade of Tyler's Division, and Genbral McDowell's Corps,
Near Arlington, July 25th 1861. General: —I have the honor to submit the following report as to the operations of my brigade in front of the enemy at Bull Run, on Sunday, July 21st. On the night of July 20th, I was summoned to attend a meeting of commanders of brigades at the headquarters of the commanding officer in the field, General McDowell; and in common with the other commanders of brigades, I was instructed as to what was expected of my particular com mand on the following day
