Civil War
Third Regiment Infantry
Charge! ordered the Michigan colonel. Over the rail fence leaped our men, with a yell that ever smites terror. Their bayonet points were not waited for. The Carolinians broke and ran. "
The regiment in command of Major Byron R. Pierce was also engaged at Charles City Cross Road on June 30th, and on July 1st at Malvern Hill.
The campaign of the Peninsula made historic the fields of Williamsburg, Fair Oaks, and Malvern Hill, weaving wreaths of glory for Michigan men, and giving them National fame.
