Civil War
TENTH REGIMENT INFANTRY
Lieutenant Colonel Dickerson, commanding the regiment, was among its wounded, and was taken prisoner. This most severe and unexpected loss to this gallant regiment was much regretted in Michigan, and the sympathies of the people went out in honest and heartfelt expressions to those who had been so suddenly bereaved while so fondly hoping for a happy meeting.
Colonel "Dickerson says in his report:
" In the morning of the 23d of February, 1864, while we were encamped near Rossville, Ga I received orders from brigade headquarters to prepare for an immediate movement, with sixty rounds of ammunition to the men, and three days' rations.
