10th Regiment Cavalry
The business upon which they
had been engaged seemed to be disposed of, when the dark-haired, stranger spoke: "Well, now, gentlemen, I once met with a man from your State that I would be mighty glad, to see." " Met him during the war, I presume; some old grudge to settle?" responded Wendell. " Oh, no," said the stranger; "the farthest in the world from that. My meeting him was during the war, 'tis true, but I have nothing but the kindest feelings for him. In fact, he treated me very handsomely, and I would go a hundred miles to see him. I would just like to let him know that we southern chaps do not always forget a kindness. I can't remember his name, but I would give a heap to see him.
