American Civil War

SIXTEENTH REGIMENT INFANTRY

"In the meantime my regiment fell back to Harrison's Landing on James river, having, before arriving there, again participated in a number of battles, especially that at Malvern Hill. " On the 14th of August my regiment moved with the army by land to Newport News, from whence it shipped to Aquia creek, marched to Fredericksburg, joined General Pope's army, was present and much cut up at Manassas, from thence retreated to Alexandria, where I again joined and took command of it on the 7th instant.
