SEVENTEENTH REGIMENT INFANTRY
The 9th corps, to which it was attached, having been ordered to reinforce General Grant in Mississippi, the regiment left Jamestown on the 4th of June for Louisville, and thence proceeded by rail to Cairo, and by the Mississippi to the Yazoo river. Disembarking, the regiment went into camp near Haynes's Bluffs, Mississippi. June 22d it was ordered to Milldale Church, and was there engaged in erecting fortifications.
