enfilading the main road, we were ordered to move off the main road and advance up the old Sharpsburg road. This was being performed in common with the rest of Willcox's division, and we had proceeded far up the road towards the crest of the mountain, and moving to the support of a section of Cook's battery which had been sent up the mountain to open on the enemy's guns on the right of the gap.
