Second Regiment Cavalry
Since we left Nashville the cavalry has done a great deal of service, capturing many prisoners and guns, and the 2d Michigan has nobly maintained its former reputation. The regiment is well mounted and in good health. This is the third time the regiment has come down from Nashville to the Tennessee river since September 1st: once after Wheeler, then after Forrest, then after Hood."
The regiment was engaged at Priceton Yard January 6th, 1865, and on the 17th broke camp at Waterloo, crossing the Tennessee river and passing through Eastport, Iuka, and Burnsville, Miss., taking six prisoners;
