The total sum paid into the Treasury Department of the United States by drafted citizens of Michigan as common qutatioa money was $594, 000. 00.
The product of soldiers and credits yielded by the several counties, as exhibited in the table immediately foregoing, is in its aggregate, as previously intimated, below the total number known to have been furnished by the State.
The report of the Adjutant General's Department for 1864, showed that, according to the records, the actual number of men furnished by Michigan
from the beginning of the war to November 1st, 1864, was.......... 81, 365
Add the number of men commuting____________________________ 1, 932
And the total credits to that time were........................... 83, 347
