Raising the Troops

By order of the Secretary of War. E. D. TOWNSEND, Asst. Adjt. General. Notwithstanding this investigation and the decision rendered, it was claimed that Michigan did not receive full credit for her three years service, but in view of the fact, as stated by Mr. Lincoln, that the country needed men, the claim was waived, and the State cheerfully proceeded with the filling of her quota.
During the session of the Legislature in 1865, the following concurrent resolution was unanimously passed:
Whereas the Hon. Austin Blair, whose valedictory message was delivered to this Legislature on the fifth of January, eighteen huudred and sixty-five, has retired to private life;
