Ninth Regiment Cavalry
On the 12th, Company H, while on a scout towards Decatur, had a slight skirmish with the enemy at that point, and on the 13th the regiment marched to the same place and became engaged in a brush with the rebel cavalry. On the 14th, while proceeding to join General Kilpatrick's command, it came up with
a small force of the enemy, which was soon dispersed and driven off by Company D. Having joined the command under General Kilpatrick, the march southward with General Sherman's army was commenced. The regiment, in command of Colonel Acker, moved with its division towards Macon and skirmished with the enemy's cavalry during the entire day
