Ninth Regiment Cavalry

After repeated reconnaissances it joined General Kilpatrick in a raid on the Montgomery railroad, the regiment having the advance. The men being destitute of rations, during part of this raid, were obliged to subsist on green corn. Frequent reconnaissances, picket duty, and guarding trains occupied the rest of the month, during which the regiment marched 193 miles. There are no notes of the movements of the regiment in the returns for February, March, April, July, and September. October 1st, the 9th was at Decatur.
