FOURTH REGIMENT INFANTRY
The campaign lasted eight days. May 4th, 1863, the regiment participated in the battle of Chancellorsville, supporting batteries or our corps, and was sent by order of General Hooker to feel the enemy's position. In presence of the main body of the army, the regiment was highly praised by the commanding general for executing the order as he desired. No engagement occurred after the position of the enemy was felt, and the army recrossed the Rappahannock at United States Ford, and returned to the old position as before near Falmouth, Virginia. The casualties at the regiment were, killed, wounded, and missing, thirty. The 2d brigade covered the
