On my arrival there, the General ordered me to proceed to Franklin without unnecessary delay. Camped within nine miles of Franklin that night. "9th Under orders from Major General Granger marched at daylight on Carters Creek pike to make a circuit through the country, and form a junction at Thompson's Station with General G. C.
