4th Michigan, on the Jefferson pike. "Monday, December 29th. The army again advanced, the 7th Pennsylvania, under Major Wynkoop, on the left flank; 3d Kentucky, under Colonel Mussy, on the right flank; 4th Michigan, under Lieutenant Colonel Dickenson, in reserve; 2d Indiana on courier duty. Light skirmishing with the enemy all day. Found the enemy in position in front of Murfreesboro at about 3 o'clock P. M. Bivouacked immediately in rear of our line of battle. "Tuesday, December 30th. One battalion of the 7th Pennsylvania and one battalion of the 3d Kentucky formed a chain of videttes in rear of the line of battle,
