American Civil War
Fourteenth Regiment Infantry
On Tuesday night last, pursuant to orders from Colonel Mizner, a company of mounted infantry of the 14th Michigan, under command of Captain James E. Mackey, met an equal force of cavalry belonging to the 1st Missouri regiment, under command of Captain Clifford, at Hillsboro, and proceeded together to Weam's sulphur springs, thirty-five miles from this post. Information communicated to Colonel Mizner, and by him sent to headquarters at Nashville, left little doubt as to the certainty of McCann's whereabouts.
