Flags of Michigan

General John Robertson. "Tuebor" is not original in the arms of Michigan; it is the motto on the arms of Viscount Torrington, an English nobleman, whose county seat is Gates Court, Meredith, near Maidstone, Kent County, England. The titles in this family of Baronet and Viscount were created respectively in 1715 and 1721. The arms bear no further resemblance to those of Michigan than the motto.
