On the 4th of July the 5th was engaged on picket and other duty. Its total loss at Gettysburg was killed or died of wounds, 19; wounded, 90; missing, 5. The regiment engaged in the pursuit of the flying enemy to Williamsport, and thence moved by way of Berlin to Manassas Gap.
