FIFTH REGIMENT INFANTRY

From a report of Captain J. S. Farrar, commanding regiment, dated on July 4th at Harrison's Landing: "I have the honor to report for the consideration of the general commanding the brigade, the part which this regiment sustained in the movement commencing on Sunday morning, June 29th, up to its arrival at this point. "The line of march was taken up at 7 o'clock Sunday morning. The men, with four days' rations in their haversacks, and 150 rounds of ammunition, marched out, Major John D. Fairbanks in command. Colonel Terry and Lieutenant Colonel Beach were both absent, the former on account of ill-health, the latter from wounds received at Williamsburg.
