Civil War Artillery
First Regiment Light Artillery
Here it was engaged in a number of skirmishes, by sections of two guns. At Mingo Flats two guns were engaged with the advance of a rebel army under Floyd. Again, at the advance of the same rebel general upon the works at Elkwater, a section was engaged; also at the Rattle of Eikwater. During the fight at Cheat Mountain Summit the battery was engaged in dividing the attention of the enemy by an attack in the rear. It was at Elkwater the Parrot guns, since so well handled by them, were received, and the old brass pieces turned over to the Quartermaster.
