U. S. Civil War
Fifteenth Regiment Infantry
It moved forward in line and struck the enemy upon the flank, capturing 17 officers, 167 men, and colors of the 5th Confederate Infantry, and 17th and 18th Texas Infantry (consolidated). This was the advance of two divisions who were massed in the wood but a short distance in the rear. The promptitude with which the movement was executed deterred the remainder of the force from making a forward movement, which, had it taken place, must inevitabiy have broken our lines, thus bringing great disaster upon our army.
