Civil War Engineers

Engineers and Mechanics

In August, the regiment was moved from Huntsville, with the exception of Company E, Captain Lucius F. Mills, which remained at work on the fortifications, the other companies being detached to different points. On the 20th the colonel, with Companies A, B, D, G, and H, marched for Nashville, arriving there on the 22d, and commenced building bridges on the Louisville and Nashville railroad, and continued until the middle of September. Companies C, F, I, and K, which had been left at Stevenson in command of the Lieutenant Colonel, took up their line of march and joined the regiment near Gal-latin, and then on the march to Bowling Green.
