Eleventh Regiment Infantry
The regiment being ordered to Nashville was assigned to Negley's division, and was stationed there prior to the advance of the Army of the Cumberland, which brought on the battle of Stone River. While at Nashville, Colonel Stoughton, with a section of artillery and three regiments, including the 11th Michigan, was sent on a foraging expedition and reconnoissance down the Cumberland. On" the march he was attacked by guerrillas near Fort Riley on October 5th, but put them to instant flight.
