Michigan Civil War
Eleventh Regiment Infantry
Michigan has done nobly thus far, and the 11th is considered as good if not better than any regiment yet sent to the war from that State. "
In the spring of 1862 the regiment was stationed, guarding at intervals the Louisville & Nashville railroad, and while John Morgan was invading Kentucky in July following, it was sent in command of Colonel Stoughton to intercept him if possible. He reached Cave City and made a forced march to Glasgow to attack him, but he had left five hours before the regiment arrived, and bis command being well mounted on stolen horses escaped.
