Michigan Civil War
Eleventh Regiment Infantry
I came very near being shot myself while reconnoitering in the second story of a house on our picket line, which was struck several times by cannon shots and perfectly riddled by musket balls. "
Crossing the Chattahoochee river on the 17th July, the regiment engaged in the battle at Peach Tree Creek on the 20th, where it sustained a loss of two killed and nine wounded. It was also present at the battle of the 7th of August, and participated in a charge on the enemy's works in front of Atlanta, taking possession of one line of defense.
