Eleventh Regiment Infantry
After the regiment was mustered out, and when passing through Sidney, Ohio, on its way to Michigan in September, 1864, and while waiting for a train, another train arrived bringing Vallandigham, who was to address a political meeting at that place during the afternoon. When he arrived at the depot he accidentally passed the regiment while it was in line with bayonets fixed, ready to stack arms, a most formidable sight, but not a "very pleasant one to Vallandigham.
