Michigan Civil War

Eleventh Regiment Infantry

As soon as the enemy came within range my regiment, with the others of this brigade, rose up, delivered its fire, and charged across the river. In passing the river my line of battle was necessarily broken, and I led the regiment forward to a fence on a rise of ground and re-formed the line. Here the firing continued for some time, until the enemy was driven from his cover and retreated through the woods.
