Michigan Civil War

Eighth Regiment Infantry

Again embarking, it proceeded via Baltimore to Louisville, Ky., and thence to Lebanon, Ky. Remaining in that State until June, it moved, in command of Colonel Frank Graves, who had been appointed to the colonelcy, to Vicksburg with the 9th corps, going into camp at Milldale, near Vicksburg, on the 17th. It was stationed at Milldale and Flowerdale Church until the 4th of July, when it moved with the army toward Jackson. It participated without serious loss in the various encounters between the 10th and 16th of that month, when the enemy evacuated Jackson.
