While at the Big Black 36 members re-enlisted as veterans on January 1st, and returned to Michigan on furlough, rejoining the battery again in due time.
In April following the battery moved via the Mississippi river, 'to Cairo, and thence entered upon the Atlanta campaign, and up to September 1st, 1864, had in command of Captain Elliott, met the enemy in Georgia at Big Shanty June 14th Seesaw Mountain June 27th, Nickajack Creek July 22d, and was engaged in the siege of Atlanta from that date until the 25th August, and
being also in the engagements at Jonesboro August 31st, and next day at Lovejoy's Station.
