Civil War Battery

Battery B

The officers and men taken prisoners at the battle of Shiloh, having been exchanged, this battery, in command of Captain Ross, left Detroit December 25th, 1862, for Columbus, Ky. It remained in that place, manning the guns in the fortifications, until January 4th, 1863, when it proceeded via Memphis, Tenn., to Gorinth, Miss., where it arrived on the 9th. During January and February it was joined by the men who had been on detached service with the 1st Missouri Artillery, and received its guns, horses, and equipments. March 9th it marched to Bethel, Tenn, It was stationed at that point until June 7th, when it returned to Corinth.
