11th Cavalry


April 1st and arrived at Christiansburg April 3rd where it destroyed a portion of the East Tennessee railroad, and passing through Danbury April 9th, Germantown April 10th, and arriving at Salisbury April 12th, if; engaged a superior force of the enemy, and captured 1,800 prisoners, 22 pieces of artillery, and destroyed a large amount of property, and also the railroads and telegraph lines leading from that point. In this engagement Captain John Edwards was killed. From Salisbury the command marched via Taylorsville on the 14th, passing Lenoir Station on the 15th, and was engaged at Morgan-town on the 17th.
